Is manufacturing in China right for my company?
When your products are labor-intensive; or they are produced with repeatable processes. Or if you need to expand your manufacturing capacity but can’t justify the costs immediately. Or you want to produce your component in different materials without incurring large-scale prototyping costs…for all these circumstances, there are cost-effective options provided by fabrication in Asia. Tooling often costs less than 25% of comparable U.S. tooling. Better yet, contact Chinagy for a complete review of your opportunities.
How much will I save by manufacturing in China?
How can I ensure the quality of the products made?
In contrast, we have a strong presence in the US and China, we speak English and we stand behind the products that we sell. The reason we can do this is we only work with factories that we know and trust. We qualify the factories to make sure that they have adequate equipment and systems in place to deliver the required quality level.
Depending on the complexity of the product and the size of the order, we can arrange for embedded source inspection where we insert our own QA staff into the production process to ensure that the products meet your specifications before they leave the factory.
These safeguards are essential when operating in China, and form part of the core value and peace of mind that our clients enjoy.
Is there one key to reliable manufacturing in Asia?
How long it takes before I receive my order?
Placing the Order In general, the factory will not start work on your order until they receive payment. Depending on the factory this may mean payment in full or simply receipt of your deposit. International wire transfers can take 4-5 business days to complete.
Lead Time Since the factory will generally be working on more than one order at a time they will schedule yours into their work queue, and order any necessary raw materials. Then they have to actually manufacture your goods. The length of time taken for the manufacturing process varies enormously depending on what is being manufactured and the size of the order. However, lead times are rarely less than 21 days and more usually in the 30 to 60 days range.
Shipping The vast majority of manufactured goods shipped from China are transported by sea. A modern container ship will take about 30 days to travel from a port in China to a destination of the United States. It usually takes a few additional days at both ends to clear customs and other import formalities.
Some products are suitable for shipping by air in which case the shipping time will be about one week, but the costs will be higher.
Once the goods arrive in the US and clear customs they are then transported to your location, which can take another 3-5 days depending on where you are relative to the port of entry.
In summary, when sourcing from China you need to place your order approximately 2 months before you need them delivered to your location.

How much import-duty will I have to pay?
For example, import duty on hats depends not only on the material that they are made of, but also on whether they have any braid on them. In addition to regular duty, there are punitive taxes charged on some categories of goods when imported from certain countries (e.g. there is a 108% anti-dumping duty on candles imported from China).
The process of calculating which goods carry which types of fees is a complex and specialized process. It is critical that these fees are calculated correctly because failure to comply with the correct process can result in delays, payment of additional duties, penalties and even criminal prosecution.
For instance, there are very specific requirements for country of origin markings on goods imported into the United States. Failure to properly mark goods could result in a fine or the destruction of the goods. Changing or obscuring country of origin markings on imported goods is a criminal offence.
In addition to taxes, there are other fees including custom clearance fee; harbor maintenance fee and so on… must be paid when importing goods into the Unites States. These fees, taxes, and tariffs are best delt with by your freight forwarder. For the above and other reasons, a quality freight forwarder should be found.
Won’t the shipping costs outweigh any cost advantage?
Our price is quoted FOB China, because freight rate is unstable. A freight forwarder is another best friend for you when importing from overseas, because they will handle the shipping arrangement for you from start to finish, including: quoting, arranging shipping, handling import duty and deliving to your door. We have a list of reputable freight forwarders that we cooperated in the past, you can send us a request if you’d like to have the list for your reference.
How and when do I pay you?
You pay us and we in turn pay the factory for the merchadise, you pay the freight forwarder, including shipping cost and various taxes and tariffs charged by the governments in China and in your destination country.
We include our marginin the price of the goods supplied, However, because of our experience and economies of scale, we deliver prices that are generally lower than our clients can achieve by going directly to the factory and managing the sourcing, shipping and importing process themselves.
